I, along with the majority of my fellow US Veterans, support the Ukrainian people as they fight for their freedom. We cannot allow ruthless dictatorships to attack democracies, period. The signal it sends to not only Russia, but China, Iran and North Korea is unacceptable. If we do not support Ukraine, these other regimes will consider it a green light to attack any county they chose. What's next? Taiwan, Poland, the Baltic states?
Ukrainians are fighting and dying for their freedom. They are simply asking for weapons to allow them to defend themselves and their families. They didn't attack Russia or instigate this war. No cash is leaving our shores. We are not sending pallets of money to Ukraine. We are sending them ammunition. And when our stocks get low, we hire more American workers to replenish our stocks.
We cannot allow Russia to encroach futher into Europe. Putin has clearly shown he wants to reconsitute the old soviet bloc. NATO is standing strong. Working as it should. One day I hope we do allow Ukraine into NATO. I had the opportunity to work with NATO countries multiple times both while I was stationed on the USS Truett FF-1095 and NAVCAMS MED at Allied Forces South (AFSOUTH) Naples IT. An Alliance that has only invoked Article 5, the principle of collective defence, one time, for the US after 9/11.
